2. Lawfulness of the Processing of Personal Data
As a general rule, we collect and process the personal data of our users only to the extent necessary to provide a functional website and to deliver our content and services. Personal data is generally collected and processed only with the user's consent. An exception applies where obtaining prior consent is not possible for factual reasons or where the processing of data is permitted by statutory provisions.
Pursuant to Article 6 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the processing of personal data is lawful if one or more of the following legal bases apply:
- you have given your explicit consent to the processing of your personal data pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) GDPR;
- processing is necessary pursuant to Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for the performance of a contract to which you are a party or in order to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract;

- processing is necessary pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for the purposes of our legitimate interests or those of a third party, provided that your interests or fundamental rights and freedoms requiring the protection of personal data do not override those interests.
3. Collection and Storage of Personal Data as well as the Nature and Purpose of Their Use
In the course of using our website, we may process personal data of users of our website (including customers, prospective customers, and visitors), such as contact details, usage data, and communication data.
This processing is carried out, among other things, for the purpose of providing a functional online offering, communicating with users of our website, responding to contact inquiries and customer requests, and fulfilling contractual obligations. In addition, cookies are placed when you visit our website (see Section "Cookies" of this Privacy Policy). We may also use third-party online services to collect and process data for marketing purposes, provided that you have given your consent.
Further details are provided in this Privacy Policy.
Below, we explain which of your data may be collected and processed and for what purposes.
When Visiting Our Website
When you access our website, the browser used on your device automatically transmits information to our website server.
This information is temporarily stored in what is known as a log file. The following information may be collected automatically, without any action on your part, and stored until it is automatically deleted after no more than 30 days, unless otherwise specified:
- IP address of the requesting device
- Date and time of access
- Content of the request (specific webpage)
- Name and URL of the retrieved file
- Access status / HTTP status code
- Amount of data transmitted
- Website from which access originated (Referrer URL)
- Browser used and, where applicable, your device's operating system as well as the name of your internet service provider
- Language and version of the browser software
The above-mentioned data are processed by us, where collected, for the following purposes:
- Ensuring a smooth connection to the website;
- Ensuring convenient use of our website;
- Evaluating system security and stability; and
- Other administrative purposes.
The legal basis for this data processing is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest arises from the purposes listed above. Under no circumstances do we use the collected data for the purpose of drawing conclusions about your identity.
Furthermore, when you visit our website, we may use cookies and third-party online services. Further information is provided in this Privacy Policy.
Contract Initiation / Contract Performance
We process personal data that we receive in connection with pre-contractual inquiries and during the course of our business relationship with you.
For example, we may collect and process the following personal data:
- Title
- First name and last name
- Postal address
- Telephone number
- Email address
- IBAN / credit card number including the security code (only where required for payment processing)
Your data may also be disclosed to third parties (see Section 5 "Disclosure of Data to Third Parties" of this Privacy Policy).
The processing and storage of the data you provide are carried out pursuant to Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for the purpose of performing a contract or taking steps prior to entering into a contract.
In all other cases, we process and store your data based on your consent pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and on the basis of our legitimate interest pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR in responding to your inquiry.
Unless statutory retention obligations apply, the personal data collected and stored by us will be deleted as soon as the purpose of storage no longer exists and further storage is no longer necessary (for example, once your inquiry has been processed or the business relationship has ended).
When Subscribing to Our Newsletter
You have the option of subscribing to our newsletter.
For this purpose, we require your email address and, optionally, your name in order to address you personally in the newsletter.
We use the double opt-in procedure. After you register, you will receive an email asking you to confirm your subscription. By clicking the activation link contained in that email, you confirm that you are the owner of the email address and wish to receive the newsletter.
If you have given your explicit consent, we will use your email address on the basis of Article 6(1)(a) GDPR to send you our newsletter containing information about our products and services at regular intervals.
If you do not confirm the activation link within three weeks, the email address registered for the newsletter will be deleted.
The collected data are used solely for sending the newsletter and documenting your consent.
When you subscribe to the newsletter, we store your IP address and the date of your registration. This storage serves solely as proof in the event that a third party misuses an email address and subscribes to the newsletter without the knowledge of the authorized owner.
For the distribution of our newsletters, we work with a newsletter service provider.
The data are generally transmitted directly to the servers of the newsletter service provider, which may be located in the United States, and stored there. The service provider uses these data on our behalf solely for sending newsletters and for statistical analysis.
For the purpose of measuring the success of our newsletters, they contain so-called web beacons (small invisible graphics) used to collect information.
These are pixel-sized files that are retrieved from the service provider's servers when an email is opened. This makes it possible, for example, to determine whether the email has been opened.
Technical information such as the IP address, browser type, and time of retrieval may also be collected.
The evaluation of these data is carried out exclusively to analyze the reading behavior of newsletter recipients, allowing us to tailor the newsletter content to their interests.
A separate withdrawal from success measurement is not possible. If you do not wish your usage to be measured, you must unsubscribe from the newsletter entirely.
Use of Our Contact Form
If you have any questions of any kind, we offer you the opportunity to contact us via a form provided on our website.
Providing your first and last name as well as a valid email address is required so that we know who submitted the inquiry and can respond accordingly. Providing a telephone number is optional.
The processing and storage of the data you submit are carried out pursuant to Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for the purpose of handling your inquiry.
In addition, we process your data on the basis of your consent pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and on the basis of our legitimate interest pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR in responding to inquiries addressed to us.
Unless statutory retention periods apply, the personal data collected and stored by us will be deleted as soon as the purpose of storage no longer exists and further storage is no longer necessary (for example, once your inquiry submitted via the contact form has been processed).
When Creating a Customer Account
You have the option of registering with us and creating a customer account.
The data required for registration (such as your name, address, and email address) are clearly marked and can be seen in the respective input form.
The personal data stored in your customer account are used so that you do not have to re-enter your information during future visits to our website when placing additional orders, thereby simplifying the ordering process.
Your customer account is protected by the password you have chosen.
You may delete your customer account at any time and withdraw your consent. As a result, we will permanently delete the data stored in your customer account unless statutory retention obligations prevent us from doing so. A simple notification using the contact details provided in our legal notice (including by email) is sufficient.
The processing and storage of the data you provide are carried out on the basis of Article 6(1)(a) GDPR within the scope of your previously granted consent and on the basis of Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for the performance of a contract.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
As a general rule, we store personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which you entrusted the data to us. Once that purpose has been fulfilled, the data will be permanently deleted.
However, where statutory retention periods apply, we will retain personal data for as long as we are legally required to do so.
Such obligations regularly arise from statutory documentation and retention requirements, including those set out in the German Commercial Code (Handelsgesetzbuch – HGB) and the German Fiscal Code (Abgabenordnung – AO), for example for tax purposes, generally for a period of ten years.
After the applicable statutory retention period has expired, the data will be permanently deleted.
Any consent granted pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) GDPR for the processing and storage of your personal data may be withdrawn at any time. Unless statutory retention obligations apply, the data will then be permanently deleted.
Further rights under which the processing of your personal data may be prohibited arise from Article 21(1) and Article 21(2) GDPR.
Information regarding your right to object can be found in this Privacy Policy under the section "Right to Object."
5. Disclosure of Data to Third Parties
We disclose your personal data to third parties only if:
- you have given your explicit consent pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) GDPR;
- the disclosure is necessary pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR to safeguard our legitimate interests or those of a third party, for example for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims, provided that your interests or fundamental rights and freedoms requiring the protection of personal data do not prevail;
- we are legally obliged to disclose the data pursuant to Article 6(1)(c) GDPR;
- the disclosure is necessary pursuant to Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for payment processing to the payment service provider commissioned with handling the payment, and pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR in our legitimate interest in providing reliable and secure payment processes;
- the disclosure is legally permissible and necessary pursuant to Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for the performance of contractual relationships with you, such as the transfer of address data to a shipping company.
Data may also be transferred to a dropshipping provider who ships the goods to you on our behalf.
If you order goods to be delivered to an address other than your own, this processing is carried out on the basis of our legitimate interest pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR in ensuring the proper performance of the contractual relationship.
Where required, a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) pursuant to Article 28(3) GDPR has been concluded with the respective service provider.
Where personal data are processed in a third country (outside the European Union), this is carried out either:
- on the basis of your prior consent,
- for the performance of a contract, or
- pursuant to legal obligations.
Any transfer of data takes place in accordance with the applicable legal requirements, in particular Articles 44–49 GDPR.
As a general rule, international transfers are based on an adequacy decision of the European Commission.
Where no adequacy decision exists for the respective third country, data transfers are based, among other safeguards, on the Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) of the European Commission, available at the following link:
https://commission.europa.eu/publications/standard-contractual-clauses-international-transfers_de
On 10 July 2023, the European Commission adopted the adequacy decision for the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework (DPF), which replaces the former Privacy Shield.
The DPF now provides the legal basis for transferring personal data to certified organizations in the United States without the need for additional transfer mechanisms or supplementary safeguards.
Where an organization certified under the DPF is used, this Privacy Policy contains the corresponding notice.
